1) CCMR can also acquire chickens, pigs (farm pigs and minipigs), and goats from outside sources for use by researchers.

2) Any strain that has been maintained at CCMR for longer than 10 years should be considered as a HKU substrain of the orginal source colony.

*Please note that while these mice are commonly referred to as 'Nude' or 'Hairless' mice, they still undergo a hair follicle cycle, and so it is normal to see macroscopically visible sparse and fine hairs over the animals body (Mecklenburg et al., 2001).
